Overview

NetApp X3172A is the controller module shared by two platforms: the FAS8200 and the AFF A300. It ships without memory, so the DIMMs from your existing controller, or a separate memory order, go into it before it is installed.

That no-memory design is normal for replacement controllers. When a controller fails, the usual process is to move its memory, boot media and other field-replaceable parts into the new module, so the configuration stays the same. If the original memory is damaged too, tell us and we can source matching memory alongside the module.
