Overview
The NetApp DS2246 adds 24 small-form-factor (2.5in) drive bays to an ONTAP FAS storage system in 2U of rack space. It connects to the controllers over 6Gb SAS.
Two IOM6 I/O modules sit at the back of the shelf, giving two paths to the drives so the shelf stays reachable if one path fails. Power supplies and disk drives are hot-swappable, so parts can be replaced without shutting the shelf down.
Buyers use the DS2246 to expand capacity on existing FAS systems, to keep a spare shelf on hand, or to rebuild a lab or test cluster. When you send a request, include your controller model and ONTAP version so we can confirm the shelf fits your setup.
