Overview
The NetApp DS212C adds 12 drive bays to an ONTAP FAS or AFF system. It is a 2U rack disk shelf that connects to the controllers over 12Gb SAS.
Two I/O modules sit at the back of the shelf. They can be IOM12, IOM12B or IOM12C, and having two gives each shelf a redundant path back to the controllers. When you add the shelf to a running system, cabling both I/O modules keeps that redundancy in place.
