Overview
The Dell PowerVault ME5012 is a 2U array with 12 x 3.5in bays, and it supports 2.5in drives in carriers. Host options are 32Gb FC, 25Gb or 10Gb iSCSI, or 12Gb SAS.
It can run with single or dual controllers. Adding ME412, ME424 or ME484 expansion enclosures raises the drive count to 264.
The mix of interfaces lets you attach it to a Fibre Channel SAN, an Ethernet iSCSI network or directly to servers over SAS. It fits shared storage for virtualization, file services and backup targets where large-form-factor drives provide the capacity.
