Overview
The Dell PowerVault MD3200i is an iSCSI storage array with 12 x 3.5in bays. Each controller provides 4 1Gb iSCSI ports on RJ-45, so it connects to servers through ordinary Ethernet switches and copper cabling.
It uses single or dual RAID controllers. Capacity can grow with MD1200 and MD1220 expansion enclosures, from a base of 120 drives to a maximum of 192 with a feature key.
The iSCSI interface suits small and midsize environments that want shared storage over an existing Ethernet network. The 1Gb link speed is modest, so check that your throughput requirements fit before choosing it.
