Overview
The Dell PowerVault MD3220i pairs 24 x 2.5in bays with 1Gb iSCSI host connectivity. Each controller has 4 RJ-45 ports, so servers attach over standard Ethernet cabling and switches.
Single or dual RAID controllers are available. Capacity can be extended with MD1200 and MD1220 expansion enclosures: the base is 120 drives, and a feature key takes it to 192.
This array is a candidate for shared storage in small virtualization clusters and server groups that already run on Ethernet. The 2.5in bays favor SAS drives and SSDs. Because the host links are 1Gb, check that your bandwidth needs match.
