Overview
The Dell PowerVault MD3420 is a 2U SAS storage array with 24 x 2.5in bays and a 12Gb SAS host interface. Its controllers are hot-swappable RAID controller modules, so a module can be replaced without taking the array down.
It supports up to 192 drives by adding MD1200 and MD1220 expansion enclosures.
A 12Gb SAS array fits shared storage for a few directly attached servers, such as virtualization hosts and small clusters, where SAS cabling is simpler and cheaper than a Fibre Channel or iSCSI fabric.
The MD3420 is available new, refurbished and used. New and refurbished arrays come with a choice of 1 year or 3 years of warranty, and used arrays come with 90 days. Send us your host list and drive plan, and we will reply with pricing.
