The Dell PowerVault MD3220 is a SAS storage array with 24 x 2.5in bays, built around single or dual RAID controllers. Each controller has 4 6Gb SAS host ports.
The array supports MD1200 and MD1220 expansion enclosures. The base is 120 drives, and a feature key raises the limit to 192 drives, so you can start with the internal bays and add shelves later.
With 24 small-form-factor bays, it is a fit for shared flash or 2.5in SAS storage for small clusters and virtualization hosts connected over SAS. Direct SAS cabling avoids the need for a storage network.
