Overview
The Dell PowerVault MD1200 adds disk capacity to a server without adding a second operating system or controller layer. It is a 2U direct-attached expansion enclosure (JBOD) with 12 x 3.5in bays, and it also supports 2.5in drives.
The host link is 6Gb SAS (SAS 2.0). Management comes from dual enclosure management modules (EMM), and up to 8 enclosures can sit behind one PERC H800 controller, so one card can grow to a large shelf set.
Use it where a server runs out of internal bays: file and backup servers, archive volumes and capacity expansion for existing Dell hosts. Make sure the host has a compatible SAS controller before ordering.
The MD1200 is available new, refurbished and used. New and refurbished enclosures come with a choice of 1 year or 3 years of warranty, and used enclosures come with 90 days. Send your drive count and host details and we will reply with pricing.
