Overview
Moving an MX240, MX480 or MX960 to higher slot bandwidth starts with the switch fabric, and the SCBE3-MX-S is Juniper's third-generation Enhanced Switch Control Board for those chassis. It delivers up to 1 Tbps per slot in redundant mode, and 1.5 Tbps per slot with all six fabric planes active when used with MPC10E line cards.
The board works with RE-S-1800 and all RE-S-X6 variants. Front-panel ports are 2 x 10GbE/1GbE SFP+ and an RJ-45 GPS clock input, and a centralized Stratum 3E clock module supports GPS/PPS external timing. Maximum power is 425 W; the board weighs 6.2 kg and measures 39.87 x 3.05 x 53.85 cm (W x H x D).
Prepare the chassis first. The SCBE3 requires high-capacity power supplies and fan trays, and the MX960 also needs the high-capacity filter tray. Junos OS 18.4R1 or later is required.
