Overview
Fabric capacity in an MX240, MX480 or MX960 comes from its switch control boards, and the Juniper SCBE2-MX-S is the enhanced SCBE2 version sold as a spare. It provides up to 480 Gbps of fabric bandwidth with non-redundant fabric, or 340 Gbps with redundant fabric.
The board also carries a central Stratum 3 clock module and an external clock interface for BITS, GPS or UTI sources. It is hot-pluggable, draws 185 W and weighs 4.4 kg. Junos OS 13.3R1 or later is required, and the CLI name is SCBE2.
An SCBE2 is a common upgrade when newer line cards in the chassis require it. The same board is listed as SCBE2-MX and SCBE2-MX-BB.
