Overview
The Routing Engine runs Junos OS and the control plane of an MX router, and the RE-S-1800X4-32G-S is the spare version of the quad-core 1.8 GHz model with 32 GB of memory. Storage is a 32 GB SSD plus 4 GB of fixed internal CompactFlash, and management is through a Gigabit Ethernet port.
It installs in the MX240, MX480 and MX960 and works with SCB, SCBE, SCBE2 or SCBE3 control boards, so it suits both older and newer fabric generations. The minimum software is Junos OS 12.3R4 / 13.2R1 or later.
