Overview

IBM 3580-H7S is a standalone desktop tape drive, sold as the TS2270. It is a half-height external LTO-7 Ultrium unit that connects to a server over 6Gb SAS, so it suits single-server backup without a library.

Each LTO-7 cartridge holds 6TB native, or 15TB compressed, with a native data rate of 300MB/s. The drive reads and writes LTO-7 and LTO-6 media, and reads LTO-5 media only, which helps when restoring older archives.

The unit measures 213 x 58 x 332 mm (W x H x D) and weighs 4.3 kg. Power input is 100-240 V AC at 50-60 Hz, auto-ranging.

IBM withdrew the 3580-H7S from marketing on 2023-06-27, so new channel supply has ended. We offer it Refurbished, with 1 year or 3 years of warranty, or Used, with 90 days.
