3DS stacking lets Micron put 64GB on a registered DDR4 module without moving to an LRDIMM. The MTA72ASS8G72PSZ-2S6 uses dual-die (3DS) DRAM packages, where two dies share one package, to double the capacity each chip position holds.
The module runs at 2666 MT/s and 1.2V, has ECC and uses the 288-pin DDR4 edge. It is a 3DS RDIMM, so the server platform must list support for 3DS registered modules. Most servers do not allow 3DS and standard RDIMMs in the same system, so plan on a matched set.
