Load-reduced DIMMs exist to reach capacities that standard RDIMMs cannot, and the Micron MTA72ASS16G72LZ-3G2 delivers 128GB on one DDR4 module. As an LRDIMM, it buffers the data lines as well as the command lines, which lowers the electrical load on the memory channel when many ranks are installed.
The module runs at 3200 MT/s at 1.2V with ECC and uses the standard 288-pin DDR4 connector. The DRAM uses dual-die packages, which is how the module fits 128GB.
