Overview

The ThinkSystem RAID 930-8i, part number 7Y37A01084, is a 12Gb SAS/SATA RAID adapter built on the LSI SAS3508 controller, from the Broadcom MegaRAID 9460 family. It sits in a low-profile PCIe 3.0 x8 slot and connects up to 8 drives through 2 x Mini-SAS HD x4 (SFF-8643) connectors.

RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are supported, including dual parity for larger drive groups, and drives can also be passed through as JBOD. The 2GB cache is protected by CacheVault flash, so buffered writes survive a power loss and write caching can stay on.
