Overview

IBM SAN64B-6, machine type 8960-F64, is a 1U Fibre Channel switch for storage area networks. It carries 48 SFP+ ports that run at 4, 8, 10, 16 or 32Gb FC, plus 4 Q-Flex QSFP ports that each provide 4 x 32Gb links. That adds up to 64 ports.

Ports are licensed on demand. The switch can run from 24 to 64 ports, using 12-port SFP+ PoD licenses and 16-port Q-Flex PoD licenses, so you pay for the ports you activate. Aggregate bandwidth is 2 Tbps and latency is 700 ns.

Airflow is port-side exhaust; 8960-N64 is the non-port-side exhaust model, so check your rack layout before ordering. Dual hot-swap redundant power supplies with integrated fans are fitted, and maximum power is 206 W. The switch weighs 7.73 kg and measures 44.00 x 4.39 x 35.56 cm. Its OEM equivalent is the Brocade G620 (v1).
