A middle ground between short-reach multimode and 10 km single-mode optics, the HPE Aruba Networking R0Z30A is a CWDM4 module. It comes in the QSFP28 form factor with an LC connector and reaches 2 km over single-mode fiber at 100GbE.
Two kilometers covers most campus and data center runs, including links between buildings that sit close together. It uses a duplex LC pair, so it works with standard single-mode patching.
