Overview

Many PowerEdge servers are built with 3.5in drive bays and 3.5in carriers. The Dell 9W8C4 adapter lets you mount a 2.5in drive in one of those carriers, so a smaller SSD or SFF hard drive can go into a large-form-factor bay.

This is a mechanical part. It holds the 2.5in drive in the right position inside the 3.5in carrier so the drive lines up with the bay. It does not change the drive itself, so the drive interface and capacity stay as they are.

Typical buyers are admins adding SSDs to a server with LFF bays, or replacing a missing adapter when moving drives between systems. Order one adapter per 2.5in drive you plan to fit, plus a 3.5in carrier for each bay if you do not already have them.
