Overview
Copper Ethernet from an SFP cage is the use of the Arista 100/1000BASE-T SFP Copper RJ45 Transceiver, part number SFP-1G-T. The RJ45 jack accepts standard twisted-pair cable, and the module supports both 100 and 1000 megabit operation, as shown in its name.
It answers a common problem: a switch has SFP ports but a device nearby only offers copper. Instead of buying another switch, plug the module in and cable to the device. It is also handy for connecting older 100 megabit equipment to modern fiber-oriented switches.
