Arista 10GBASE-SR SFP+ Transceiver Module, Multimode LC

For 10GbE inside a data center, the Arista 10GBASE-SR SFP+ Transceiver Module, part number SFP-10G-SR, is the usual multimode optic. It uses a duplex LC connector and reaches 300 m on OM3 and 400 m on OM4.

Those distances cover almost every in-building link: server to top-of-rack, rack to row, row to core. Duplex LC multimode cabling is the most widely installed type, so the module generally fits an existing plant. Check the fiber grade on longer runs, since the OM3 and OM4 limits differ.

The form factor is SFP+, the cage used by 10GbE ports on switches, server adapters and storage gear. The module does not fit QSFP ports. Both ends of a link need a short-reach module, though they do not always have to be the same brand if both hosts accept the type.

Check the manufacturer's data if you need the wavelength for design work. Arista switches list the optics they support, and some third-party platforms behave differently, so confirm compatibility with each device on the link.
