Two features set the MG04SCA40EE apart from a basic nearline disk: dual-port SAS and persistent write cache. The persistent write cache protects data held in cache if power is lost, and the dual-port design gives two paths to the drive for redundant controllers.

Capacity is 4TB on a 3.5in LFF form factor. The drive spins at 7200 RPM and runs SAS at 12Gb/s. It uses 512e sectors (4K physical sectors with 512-byte emulation), with 128MB of cache and a sustained transfer rate of 205 MiB/s.

Toshiba rates this MG04 model for 550 TB per year of workload and an MTTF of 1,400,000 hours. Maximum power draw is 11.8 W.
