Lenovo ThinkSystem RAID 930/940 Supercap Flash Power Module

ThinkSystem RAID 930 and RAID 940 adapters use a flash power module to protect their cache. Lenovo 01KN513 is that module: a supercapacitor that powers the controller long enough to copy cached data to flash if the server loses power.

Without a working flash power module, a RAID controller cannot safely use write-back caching. Fitting or replacing the module keeps write cache enabled, which matters for arrays carrying databases, virtual machines or other write-heavy work.

A supercapacitor has no chemical battery to swell or wear out in the same way, but modules still fail over time and are replaced when the controller reports a fault.
