Fiber-ready ports often need to talk to ordinary copper gear, and the Finisar FCLF8521P2BTL bridges that gap. It is a 1000BASE-T copper SFP transceiver with an RJ45 connector, rated for 100 m.
You plug it into an SFP cage, then connect a twisted-pair cable to the RJ45 socket. It runs at 1GbE on a single port. That makes it handy for linking a fiber-oriented switch to a server or device that has only a copper network port.
