Dell Intel X550 10GBASE-T 4-Port RJ45 rNDC Network Daughter Card

The Dell 64PJ8 puts four 10GbE copper ports on a rack network daughter card. Each port uses an RJ45 connector, so the card works with 10GBASE-T switches and ordinary copper cabling instead of optics.

Its controller is the Intel X550, and the card connects to the system over PCIe 3.0 x8. As an rNDC it seats in the daughter card connector on the motherboard, which keeps the PCIe slots open for storage or GPU cards.

Four 10GbE ports per host make sense for virtualization clusters and file servers that split traffic across several networks while staying on copper.

The card is also known by the padded Dell number 064PJ8.
