Overview

Gigabit copper on a low-profile card, in its second revision, is the Dell Broadcom 5720 1GbE 2-Port RJ45 PCIe Low-Profile Ethernet Adapter, V2, part number 540-BDHQ. It has two RJ45 ports at 1GbE and a Broadcom 5720 controller.

Gigabit cards stay useful for management, backup and light-traffic networks, and two ports allow a redundant pair or a split between networks. Ordinary twisted-pair cable and switch ports are all you need.

The V2 label shows a later build of the card. Dell may issue a new part number for a revised board, so compare this number with the one your server's parts list names before replacing a card, and ask us if you are unsure which revision you have.

The low-profile bracket fits slim servers whose slots reject full-height cards. Check your chassis before you order.

Broadcom 5720 is a common controller with drivers in all the major operating systems and hypervisors. If your servers already use it for onboard ports, a Broadcom card keeps the driver set consistent.

The 540-BDHQ is offered in new, refurbished and used condition. New and refurbished cards carry a warranty choice of 1 year or 3 years, and used cards carry 90 days. Send your quantity and server model for pricing.
