The Cisco Catalyst 2960-CX Compact 8-Port PoE+ Switch, LAN Base, MPN WS-C2960CX-8PC-L, is a small Layer 2 switch for places where a full-size unit will not fit: a desk, a wall, a classroom or a retail counter.
It has 8 x 10/100/1000 PoE+ downlink ports. The PoE budget is 124 W, so it can power a few phones, access points or cameras directly. Uplinks are 2 x 1G copper plus 2 x 1G SFP, letting you connect back by copper or fiber. Maximum port speed is 1GbE.
The LAN Base feature set provides Layer 2 switching. It does not route, so if you need Layer 3 at the edge, look at a Layer 3 compact model instead.
Cooling is fanless, so there is no fan noise to worry about in an open space.
