Cisco 1000BASE-LX/LH SFP Transceiver Module, 1310 nm Single-Mode with DOM

Gigabit single-mode links up to 10 km are the job of the Cisco 1000BASE-LX/LH SFP Transceiver Module with DOM, part number GLC-LH-SMD. It operates at 1310 nm and uses a duplex LC connector at 1GbE.

The module can also run on multimode fiber for 550 m when a mode-conditioning patch cord is used. That makes it useful for reusing older multimode cabling where an SX module would not reach. The patch cord is a separate item and is not described as part of this module.

The D in the part number stands for DOM, which lets the host monitor optical values from the module. Check your switch documentation for what it reports.

The module is an SFP. The number GLC-LH-SM is recorded as a superseded part number for this module, so older listings under that code may refer to the same family. Ask for the DOM version if you need monitoring.

Both ends of the link should use LX/LH modules, and on single-mode fiber the full path must be single-mode.
