Seagate Exos X24 24TB 7.2K SATA 6G LFF SED Hard Drive

SED sets the Seagate Exos X24 24TB 7.2K SATA 6G LFF SED Hard Drive (ST24000NM001H) apart: the encryption field on this model reads SED, where the otherwise similar 24TB SATA drive lists ISE. If your security policy calls for self-encrypting drives, that is the line to read before you place an order.

The rest is familiar from this lineup. Capacity is 24TB, the spindle speed is 7200 rpm, and the interface is SATA at 6 Gbps. The drive is 3.5in LFF with 512e sectors and a 512 MB cache.

Whether the SED feature is actually enabled depends on the controller and key management in your environment; the drive supplies the capability and the surrounding system must use it.

Because it is a high-capacity SATA drive, typical homes are archive, backup and bulk-storage nodes, where cost per terabyte is the main measure.
