NetApp builds the E-X4127A for the E-Series DE212C drive shelf. Each drive holds 8TB, turns at 7200 rpm and links at 12Gb/s. Encryption is not built in: this is the non-FDE version.
The DE212C is a compact shelf, so capacity per bay counts. An 8TB drive gives a useful amount of space per slot for backup repositories, video storage and general file data on an E-Series system.
