Sixteen cores clocked at 3.1 GHz put the Intel Xeon Gold 6346 firmly on the fast side. Lenovo sells it as option kit 4XG7A63452, without a fan, with a 205 W TDP and feature code BB2W, for the ThinkSystem SR650 V2.

The high clock helps with software priced per core and with applications where one slow thread delays everything else. Sixteen cores still gives some room for multitasking. A 205 W socket does need dependable cooling, so check the server before installation.
