Replacing an older boot disk in a desktop or laptop is a natural use for the Kingston KC600 SKC600/256G. Its 256GB holds an operating system and everyday applications, and its 2.5in SFF case is 7 mm high.

The drive talks to the host over SATA at 6 Gb/s. Kingston lists up to 550 MB/s for sequential reads and 500 MB/s for sequential writes, plus 90000 and 80000 IOPS for random reads and writes. An SM2259 controller manages 3D TLC NAND with a DRAM cache, and XTS-AES 256-bit encryption is built in.
