Overview
Gigabit multimode links are the purpose of the HPE Aruba 1G SFP LC SX Transceiver Module, part number J4858D. It transmits at 850 nm, uses an LC connector and runs at 1GbE in the SFP form factor.
Reach depends on the fiber type: 500 m on 50/125 um OM2 and 275 m on 62.5/125 um. Older campuses were often wired with those fiber types, and gigabit multimode links of this kind still connect wiring closets to a distribution switch.
