BOSS-N1 is the Dell boot controller that takes NVMe M.2 drives, and the Dell 3H1F4 is a 480GB boot SSD for it. It uses the M.2 2280 form factor and connects over NVMe on PCIe 4.0.

The point of a dedicated boot drive is to keep the operating system or hypervisor separate from the storage drives. At 480GB, 3H1F4 has room for the OS image, logs and patches, while NVMe on PCIe 4.0 keeps boot and update times short.
