At 256GB per module, the Cisco UCS-ML-256G8RT-H is a very large DDR4 module. It is an 8Rx4 LRDIMM with ECC, a 2933 MT/s data rate and 1.2V operation, for UCS servers.
Eight ranks on one module is a lot, which is why the load-reduced design is needed: buffering lets the server manage so many ranks without overloading the bus. Some platforms limit the number of such modules per channel, so read the UCS memory guide before planning a build.
