Cisco 100G SR-BiDi QSFP28 Transceiver Module, Multimode LC

BiDi means bidirectional: the Cisco 100G SR-BiDi QSFP28 Transceiver Module, part number QSFP-100G-SR1.2, sends and receives on different wavelengths over a fiber pair with an LC connector. The wavelengths are 855 and 908 nm, as listed in the specifications.

This design suits sites that want to move multimode links to 100GbE while keeping duplex fiber. Reach depends on the fiber grade: 70 m on OM3, 100 m on OM4 and 150 m on OM5. The longer OM5 figure is the reason to check what grade is actually installed.

The module fits QSFP28 cages and carries one port at 100GbE. A BiDi module normally needs a BiDi module at the other end of the link, so plan both ends together and do not mix it with a standard short-reach module.

Check your switch or adapter documentation for supported optics, since pluggable modules are accepted or rejected by the host.
