The shortest of the Cisco 100GBASE-CR4 copper cables, part number QSFP-100G-CU1M, is a passive QSFP28 direct attach cable 1 m long. A QSFP28 connector sits on each end, and the link runs at 100GbE.

At one meter it is meant for devices that are physically next to each other, such as a server and a switch in the same rack with little slack needed. Passive copper keeps the cost and power draw down because there are no optics inside the connectors, and it avoids fiber handling altogether.

The tradeoff is reach. Copper at this speed is limited to short runs, so measure the path between the two ports, including bends and the route through cable management, before ordering. If the run is longer, the same family has longer versions with their own part numbers.
