With 5 m of reach, the Cisco QDD-400-AOC5M covers the distance between racks that are not directly adjacent. It is a 400G active optical cable with QSFP-DD connectors on both ends and multimode fiber between them.

Passive copper becomes harder to use as runs get longer, which is where an optical assembly like this one fits in. It is a single-port 400GbE cable, and since the optics are part of the cable there is nothing else to buy.
